Enhance your music theory skills and improve your sight reading abilities with this comprehensive training program. Designed to cater to musicians of all levels, it covers a wide range of essential topics in music theory.
The course starts by introducing simple notes in treble clef for beginners, gradually progressing to the identification of advanced exotic scale modes in mezzo-soprano clef.
The course includes in-depth coverage of the following topics:
- Key signatures, covering up to 7 accidentals for major or minor scales.
- Intervals, including compound intervals (up to a double octave). In identification mode, you will even encounter double sharps or double flats.
- Chords, spanning from triads and sixths to sevenths and extended chords (9ths, 11ths). The course also addresses suspended chords, open voicing, and inversions.
- Scales, encompassing all scale modes of major or minor scales (including the modes of the harmonic or melodic scales), neapolitan scales, and pentatonic scales.
- Diatonic chord degrees on major or minor scales presented as both triads and seventh chords.
- Rhythm exercises involving notes as short as sixteenth notes or as long as dotted and double dotted notes. The exercises require completing bars with notes or rests and identifying the lengths of given notes (including breve notes).
Additionally, this course enables you to practice reading notes in various clefs, such as treble, bass, alto, baritone (C or F), French violin, mezzo-soprano, soprano, and tenor.
The app also offers multiple note naming schemes like English (CDEFGAB), German (CDEFGAH), and Latin (DoReMiFa...).
While this app is an excellent resource to prepare for Levels 1 - 5 of ABRSM*, please note that it does not cover all the topics included in their official syllabus. Therefore, we recommend checking the official syllabus for a more comprehensive understanding of the examination requirements.
